Copyright and its relevance to digital images
Copyright is something that protect someone's individual idea from being taken by someone else. This is relevant to digital images because if someone takes an original image and don't want it to be taken or used by someone else for free that's when they can copyright the image. for an idea to be copyrighted it needs to be made into a material form for example your idea has to actually created because you cant copyright your idea
Copyright legislation
Copyright law in the UK is made up of a few pieces of legislation, case law, directives, treaties and conventions, as well as interpretation. Copyright laws came into act in 1989. Copyright can wear out 70 years after the author dies on the 31 December
Duration of copyright
If a author is known then the copyright lasts from the 31st of December of the year the author dies for another 70 years, if the author isn't know the rule applies from when it was first published. copyright is constantly being checked and reviewed for the purpose of the owner to ensure that they rights are being reserve
Photographs
There are two type of copyright for a photograph one for the thing being photographed and one for the image of the thing. If the thing being photographed is copyrighted then copyright cannot be granted to the photo of the thing. If you want to take a photo of something copyrighted you have to ask for permission
Creative community
Creative community is a non profit organisation that allows people to share their stuff without getting caught up in copyright infringement laws. it does this by changing "all rights reserved" to "some rights reserved". Basically it's one big community that gives creators a licence which means that their stuff can be taken but not stolen

wiki media is another non profit organisation and their aim to bring free information on the internet that anyone can take without any risk of copyright issues being raised. it is run by volunteers and it runs of donations whilst working in partnership with educational and cultural institutions
