Font and typeface
Font - a font is one style type face. it usually has its own height, weight and spacing between the letters
Type face - a type face is a font family for example wingdings has several different number versions of it.
Style - each font has its own variables to make it unique and you can also add your own in depending on what you are writing about for example if you make the text italic you are adding a new style to the text.
Didot - a didot is a family of French printers who created a new technique of typography that has
helped printers world wide for decades.
Serif - serif is a small line attach to the stroke on the end of the letter
Sans serif - sans serif is different to serif because it doesn't have the stroke on the letters so its just
normal text
Compatibility - you can a have compatibility issues when creating things in a pdf because if you open it over a range of different computers that aren't that new they might have issues seeing some modern fonts
Size - size does matter because if you want to open it on a tablet or something smaller than a computer it might not be visible if you make it small on the computer
Leading - The term leading is derived from the days of hot metal type when the strips of lead were placed between the lines to create spacing. leading is basically the space between the pieces of type
Kerning - kerning is the space between each letter in the word, without kerning the word wouldn't be readable because all the letters would be clumped together
Justification - Justification is the alignment of text along the margin
Condensed fonts / extended fonts - condensed font are fonts with really narrow type, extended fonts are the opposite, they are fonts with a wide type.

Unit 51, task 2 - Copyright
Copyright and its relevance to digital images
Copyright is something that protect someone's individual idea from being taken by someone else. This is relevant to digital images because if someone takes an original image and don't want it to be taken or used by someone else for free that's when they can copyright the image. for an idea to be copyrighted it needs to be made into a material form for example your idea has to actually created because you cant copyright your idea
Copyright legislation
Copyright law in the UK is made up of a few pieces of legislation, case law, directives, treaties and conventions, as well as interpretation. Copyright laws came into act in 1989. Copyright can wear out 70 years after the author dies on the 31 December
Duration of copyright
If a author is known then the copyright lasts from the 31st of December of the year the author dies for another 70 years, if the author isn't know the rule applies from when it was first published. copyright is constantly being checked and reviewed for the purpose of the owner to ensure that they rights are being reserve
Photographs
There are two type of copyright for a photograph one for the thing being photographed and one for the image of the thing. If the thing being photographed is copyrighted then copyright cannot be granted to the photo of the thing. If you want to take a photo of something copyrighted you have to ask for permission
Creative community
Creative community is a non profit organisation that allows people to share their stuff without getting caught up in copyright infringement laws. it does this by changing "all rights reserved" to "some rights reserved". Basically it's one big community that gives creators a licence which means that their stuff can be taken but not stolen
https://creativecommons.org/
Wikimedia
wiki media is another non profit organisation and their aim to bring free information on the internet that anyone can take without any risk of copyright issues being raised. it is run by volunteers and it runs of donations whilst working in partnership with educational and cultural institutions

To plan photoshoot for dps by reasearching images and evaluating the last shoot for the front cover?
How could I of taken better photos for my photoshoot?
To take a better photo for my photoshoot I could of gone to a different location other than mr salters studio to get a better background
Which made up act will you feature in your DPS?
In my DPS I will be featuring an egg because he is going to be an up and coming Brighton indie act and there will be a lot to write about on them.
Who will be model and why?
Egg man will model because I feel as if he would represent my act very well.
Which settings in Brighton could you use and why?
The settings that I could use for my background could be iconic attractions in Brighton such as the pier, the pavilion or the sea. this will emphasise the fact that my act is a local act in Brighton

To consider what the purpose of a dps is and the key featurees within them as an article
What is DPS?
A double page is a two facing pages of an article where the textual material on the left continues onto the right in a magazine usually in the middle of the magazine.

How does the first line try to interest you?
"In the spring of 1991, as nirvana prepared to record what would become their Nevermind album, they repaired to a Los Angeles rehearsal studio with producer Butch Vig." this is trying to draw me in by building up what is to come in the rest of the article in terms of Nirvana and their Nevermind album. it also uses a block capital to make the beginning of the article stand out on the page.
What percentage of the article would you say are quotes?
I would say only about 10% of the article are quotes because its mainly giving information about the album and the band and the quotes are only short stuff about the build up to the band.

Looking in NME magazine
- Upfront
- World of warpaint - interview with 'LA quartet's' debut album
- "Now we're dickheads with synths!" - The Wombats' new album
- Let's dance - interview with a die hard hipster raised by mystics who is said to be responsible for 2010's best dance moves
-
On the road with Of Montreal - pictures and information documenting the tour of the band Of Montreal
What does the headline suggest about the story?
How Nirvanas album 'Nevermind' changed music and about the band Nirvana.
What is the main message of this article?
How successful Nirvana became because of one of their album called Nevermind, and how good nirvana were. How does the first line try to interest you?
